1980: Diploma in Education, (art teaching), Sydney Teachers College
1983: Post-Grad. Diploma in Prof. Art Studies (Photography), City Art Institute

EMPLOYMENT / CAREER

1983 - 2008: Senior Photographer, Macquarie University, Sydney
1984 - 2007: TEACHING, part-time (1984 – 2005 Photography Tutor at Australian
Centre for Photography, Sydney; 2003 – 2007 Photography Tutor at Hornsby TAFE;
2005 - 2007 Photography Tutor at Meadowbank TAFE )
2003 - present: On-going archaeological photography in Egypt, under directorship
of Professor Naguib Kanawati, Centre for Egyptology, Macquarie University.
2009 – 2011: Multicultural and Visual Arts Adviser, Arts Reference Committee,
Hornsby Shire Council.
2008 - present: Established Photowrite Pty Ltd, currently working as freelance
photographer and exhibition curator.

MAJOR PROJECT / EXHIBITIONS

Since 1982 I have been documenting (oral, visual and literary data) the historical
and contemporary presence of Greek-Australians. The project, entitled
In Their
Own Image
: Greek-Australians was endorsed by the Australian Bicentennial
Authority and has received a number of grants. The project has gathered one of
the largest archives on Greek-Australians nationally.

Numerous exhibitions have been developed, and have toured nationally since
1986. These exhibitions were -

The exhibition (a partnership with the State Library of N.S.W) was invited to

participate in the European Cultural Capital, Thessaloniki, 1997, and in SOCOG's

International Olympic Arts Festival in Athens during early 2000.

These grants have assisted in the documentation (research and exhibitions) of the

Greek-Australian project .

1985: Australian Greek Presidential Award

1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993: Carnivale (NSW state funding)

1987: Marrickville Municipal Council & N.S.W. Bicentennial Council, to photograph

Greeks in Marrickville.

1987: Commonwealth Photographic Award

1988: Australia Council's ‘Project Grant’ (to photograph Greek-Australians nationally)

1988: N.S.W. Film & Television Office (grant to develop scripts for film documentary

series (4x1 hour) on the Greek-Australian experience (joint grant with researcher

and writer)

1990: Australia Council’s ‘Project Grant’ (to photograph people from Ithaca,

Kythera and Kastellorizo , for travelling exhibition)

1990: Australian-Greek Travel Award (joint with researcher) D.E.E.T.

1991and 1992: Heritage grant, Royal Australian Historical Society

1996: 'Visions of Australia' grant from Federal Government in partnership with the

State Library of N.S.W.

1997: Australia Council grant to assist in taking the project's major exhibition to the

1997 European Cultural Capital - Thessaloniki, Greece. Principal assistance was also

provided by the 1997 Organization for the Cultural Capital of Europe, Thessaloniki.

2000: Greek Ministry of Culture grant to assist in taking the project's major exhibition

to Athens, Greece, for display as part of S.O.C.O.G's 'Reaching the World'

International Olympic Arts Festival. Further principal grants provided by S.O.C.O.G.

and the Australian Embassy in Athens.

2001: Macquarie University Research Grant

2002: Macquarie University Research Grant

2002: Macquarie University VC’s Development Grant to support the In Their Own

Image project at the University.
